So the Lucky Clover folks are back with something new. Slots And Daggers just hit OXENAPK, and it's a roguelike that does things a little differently.
Instead of swinging swords and casting spells the usual way, you're spinning a reel mid-fight. The rewards you get from each spin determine what gear you can craft, what skills unlock, and whether you walk out of that dungeon alive or get sent back to the start. Luck's a big factor—won't lie to you there—but if you don't know how to work with what you're given, you're not getting far.
Random rewards, random relics, random enemy spawns, random floor layouts—no two attempts play out the same. You start experimenting with different pieces, seeing which passive buffs stick together, which weapons feel right, and before you know it you've stumbled into a combo that absolutely shreds. Or one that gets you killed in two rooms. Both outcomes are equally possible.
There's room for different styles too. You can go all-in on crits and pray. You can stack defense and outlast everything. You can lean into spells and keep your distance. Game doesn't really care which you pick—it just wants to see if you can make it work.
Push too fast and an elite will remind you why you should've played safer. Play too slow and you might not have enough juice for the boss. Finding that middle ground is where most of the tension lives. This is all pretty standard for the genre, but the balance actually holds up.
Pixel art's nice. Combat moves quick. The grind loop actually makes you want one more run instead of feeling like a chore.
